In this project, we developed a test bed for experiments with data integration in a net-centric environment. The purpose was to support the development of new command and control system for the response to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats.

WVR air combat training illustrator

We supported the evaluation of the Within Visual Range (WVR) air combat training illustrator. The evaluation included experts from the Swedish air force and fighter pilots from the F17 wing in Sweden.

To complement technical needs and requirements, this study looked into tactical and practical user aspects of future interactive and adaptive ground-sensor nets.

Mobile Early Warning

With the increased use of cellular phones and the infrastructure of the emerging high-capacity wireless networks with large geographical coverage, new possibilities arise to reach a selection of individuals in a specific area in case of an emergency.

Training Needs Analysis

The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) supports the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) with the training needs analysis for the Visby class corvette. VSL AB participates in this project on a consultancy basis.

Future Naval Command and Control

The goal of this project was to shorten the time from execution to evaluation in naval operations. New technology on board and enhanced data integration reduced this time from days to hours.

CBRN multimedia courseware

This project produced a multimedia learning material that combines basic facts about chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) agents and CBRN protection with practical examples from a full-scale rescue operation.

Documentation and analysis of naval operations

For this project we have developed software for compiling data from the ships' command and control systems. We have also developed naval visualization components for our visualization framework.

Visualization of rescue operations

We participated in the field trials and took part in the evaluation of methods and tools. The results were very encouraging as they indicated that MIND could be used to support civilian activities, too.

Monitoring and analysis of command and control

New methods and tools facilitate analysis of communication in command and control.

Simulation-based decision support

In this project we developed methods and tools for a simulation-based decision support for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incidents.

MIND

The MIND system has been a research tools since 1993. The system has been used to support the development of methods for training of taskforces and for assessment of complex systems.

Instrumented Force-on-Force Battle Training

For this project we provided the experimental instrumentation system that implemented simulation, data collection, and visualization of the exercise. We also participated in the development of new training methods.
